Mablethorpe and Skegness 5 year awards

Mike Newbold Trustee East Coast Region seen here by the NEW Mablethorpe NCI Lookout along with Roger Gilburd Station Manager Skegness/Winthorpe  accompanied by  Pauline Arthey DSM Mablethorpe, Bill Watson DSM Mablethorpe and Keith Arthey Watchkeeper, Mablethorpe, at the presentation of their Five Year Service Awards.  Mike also had the honour of awarding himself the same accolade. Watched by Tony Mee Station Manager of Mablethorpe who said it was nice to see service recognised and both Pauline and Bill had been instrumental in the setting up of Mablethorpe NCI and had been very supportive of his efforts getting the team to where they are today. Keith also was thanked for all work in the back ground as Press & Publicity first for Skegness and now most recently for NCI Mablethorpe. All team members started the NCI service at NCI Ingoldmells Point.

The Station, purchased outright is ours ie NCI Mablethorpe’s, is a Vandal proof steel building and over the last month the team has beavered away kitting it out to become a model NCI station.

HM Coastguards were very impressed with the work that has gone into the fitting out, so Thanks go to the hard working team whose expertise in carpentry and metal work have furnished the unit to very high specifications

The team have even put three planters around the outside of the cabin which, we are led to believe, will be filled with flowers to enhance the outside look of the Station so watch this space.

Asked why the February 27th date for the change Station Manager Tony Mee said “It is an auspicious date for us as the team’s inaugural meeting was scheduled for the 27th February 2009 and from that date to now what a Team I have; supporting me and working through the hardest winter in many a year, to keep watch out from an open Beach Chalet, so this New Station is an accolade to their efforts!”

Here is the new station arriving at Sea View Car Park, Tony was there to meet it and assist in its siteing, he said what a good job the lads had done getting the slabs for the base in situ with the aid of the Snow and Ice. The Snow which had been problematic up to Sunday magically disappeared so the Station could be sited properly and work commenced immediately getting the Electrics wired in and ready for the connection to the Main later in the week

The above Photo was Monday, here is the Station Tuesday you can see that the paint brushes have been out already, cladding will go on once the site is electrified and then Aerial masts will be raised and then all the kitting out will start!

Please feel free to leave a comment on any post – here in the members news area or on the public news pages.  As with frequency of posting, the more comments that are left on the public areas of the stie the search engines  will visit more frequently and the higher you will climb in searches.  For example, it would be good to get on the first page of Google for a search for the words Skegness or Mablethorpe.  I can always hope
